CDP Expands Partnership With Hong Kong Monetary Authority to Accelerate Sustainable Finance in Hong Kong
Expanded Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA)–CDP partnership supports the implementation of HKMA’s Sustainable Finance Action Agenda, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as a sustainable finance hub.
Hong Kong, September 9, 2025 — CDP, the world’s only independent environmental disclosure platform, today announced the signing of an addendum to its 2022 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. The expanded scope builds on three years of successful collaboration and reflects a shared commitment to strengthening environmental disclosure and advancing Hong Kong’s sustainable finance agenda.
Since 2022, HKMA and CDP have worked through the Green and Sustainable Finance Cross-Agency Steering Group (CASG) to embed CDP’s globally recognized disclosure questions into the Climate and Environmental Risk Questionnaire for non-listed companies and SMEs, enabling them to disclose standardized, decision-useful environmental data. With around 98% of Hong Kong companies being non-listed or SMEs, this initiative equips the overwhelming majority of businesses with a mechanism to disclose standardized, decision-useful environmental data.
The addendum expands the partnership to:
Strengthen the flow of high-quality environmental data into Hong Kong’s financial system and facilitate disclosure among SMEs, banks, and beyond to support Hong Kong’s standing as a leading regional sustainable finance hub.
Accelerate the implementation of HKMA’s Sustainable Finance Action Agenda, which aims to consolidate Hong Kong’s position as the sustainable finance hub in the region and support the sustainable development of Asia and beyond.
"Our long-standing partnership with HKMA underscores the importance of environmental disclosure. With this expansion, CDP’s high-quality, globally comparable data will reach deeper into Hong Kong’s financial system — reinforcing its leadership as a center of sustainable finance and enabling earth-positive decisions for the future” said Sherry Madera, CEO, CDP.
