Building the Global Baseline: Implementing Target 15 of the GBF and the Future of Nature-related Disclosure

Date and time: Friday October 23, 16:30 to 17:30 (AMT)

Venue: COP 17 Blue Zone, NPI Pavilion

Nature-related disclosure continues to evolve rapidly as market practices, frameworks, and standards work together. Drawing on the work of the TNFD and market practice, the IFRS Practice Statement on Nature-related Disclosure Exposure Draft presents a pivotal opportunity to bring nature into the global baseline for corporate reporting and accelerate the implementation of GBF Target 15. This session brings together key stakeholders to explore the exposure draft, review market progress, and discuss how greater coherence, shifting data needs, and practical application can drive decision-useful reporting and foster widespread market adoption.

This event will be followed by a networking drinks reception, which will close at 19:30.

Bridging Public-Private Data to Accelerate Biodiversity Action

Date: Monday, October 26, 10:30 to 11:45 (AMT)

Venue: COP17 Blue Zone, Data Pavillion

COP17 will set the stage for the first, comprehensive Global Review – a critical litmus test of collective progress of action for biodiversity. The IPBES Business and Biodiversity Assessment, published in early 2026, affirmed that all businesses depend on and impact biodiversity and can be agents of positive change. This is also recognized in the Target 15 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and the positioning of the KMGBF as a whole-of-society framework. But how does corporate information help to implement and monitor countries' progress on NBSAPs?

The event will showcase analysis on Target 15-aligned disclosures across geographies, and examples of partnerships, such as in Japan and the UK, as pathways to enact data from non-state actors – such as companies, financial institutions and cities – for implementation and monitoring of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs). The event will demonstrate the role of data in connecting and coordinating action across markets and policy, through a whole-of-economy and whole-of-society approach in tackling nature and biodiversity loss, and support mobilising the critical resource needed to do so.
