About the event
Climate adaptation is becoming one of the most pressing public policy challenges facing Brazilian cities, states, communities and businesses. As climate impacts intensify, local and regional governments need more than risk assessments: they need actionable intelligence that helps them prioritize investment, develop finance-ready projects and mobilize resources for resilient development.
The Global Goal on Adaptation provides a shared framework for building resilience, but delivery depends on connecting global targets with local realities. Reliable climate data can help governments understand risks, identify adaptation options, align with private-sector transition plans and direct finance towards the communities and projects that need it most.
This session will bring together public, private and civil-society leaders to examine how disclosure, AI-enabled analysis, technical assistance and peer learning can support better policy and investment decisions. It will highlight Brazil’s opportunity to connect national adaptation ambition with local delivery, including CDP’s collaboration with AdaptaCidades, a national initiative coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change with support from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Cities.
What the session will explore
How high-quality disclosure and adaptation intelligence can turn climate data into practical guidance for public policy, local implementation and financing decisions.
How federal monitoring tools can strengthen transparency and create a secure, reliable data pool to inform Brazil’s climate action.
How tools such as CDP’s Adaptation and Action Explorer can identify risks, reveal investment opportunities and strengthen pipelines of finance-ready projects.
Lessons from Brazilian cities, including Fortaleza and Porto Alegre, on connecting local priorities with national adaptation plans, climate finance and implementation of the Global Goal on Adaptation.
Replicable models for adaptation governance that are effective, equitable, participatory and durable.
