Appointments reflect CDP’s commitment to trusted governance and accelerating environmental action

London, 14 July 2025: CDP, the global non-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system, has announced the appointment of seasoned financial services leaders Marc Berryman and Hideo Tomita to its Worldwide Board of Trustees. These strategic appointments reinforce CDP’s commitment to high-integrity governance and to scaling its impact across key global markets particularly Asia-Pacific, where environmental disclosure is growing at record pace. As Chair of CDP’s Finance, Audit & Risk Committee, Marc Berryman brings significant financial and regulatory expertise to strengthen oversight, resilience and transparency across CDP’s operations. Hideo Tomita joins the board as CDP’s Japan Representative, deepening regional engagement and supporting the integration of environmental data into Asian financial systems. Together, their appointments reflect CDP’s mission to accelerate environmental action by strengthening the systems that underpin global disclosure and capital allocation.

Sherry Madera, CEO of CDP said, “As CDP expands its global impact, strong governance and strategic leadership are more important than ever. We are pleased to welcome Marc and Tomita-san to the Board, where their experience will help ensure CDP remains trusted, resilient, and equipped to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving sustainability landscape.” As environmental and financial risks converge, the role of high-quality disclosure and governance has never been more critical. CDP’s Finance, Audit & Risk Committee plays a central role in ensuring transparency, accountability and operational resilience - values that support CDP’s credibility and influence. Simultaneously, Asia-Pacific has emerged as the world’s leading region for corporate environmental disclosure, with 37% of all disclosing companies in 2024 based in APAC. Japan alone is home to three of the world’s eight Triple A-rated companies on climate, forests and water, underscoring its leadership. The appointments of Marc Berryman and Hideo Tomita reflect CDP’s strategic investment in both governance and regional partnerships, reinforcing its ability to scale environmental transparency in service of a resilient, sustainable, and Earth-positive global economy.

Katherine Garrett-Cox, Chair of CDP Worldwide Group Trustees added, “Marc and Tomita-san embody the expertise and values that form the foundation of CDP’s work. From advancing financial oversight to strengthening regional partnerships, their contributions will support our mission to embed transparency, accountability, and environmental ambition into the heart of the global economy.”
