Accessibility statement for CDP Portal

This accessibility statement only applies to the CDP Portal which organizations use to disclose their environmental impact online. We will update this statement for the cdp.net website once we have completed formal accessibility checks. From this point on the CDP Portal will be referred to as ‘this website'.

This website is run by CDP Worldwide. CDP Worldwide values inclusion, equality, and accessibility for all, which is why we strive to ensure our website is accessible to all people, regardless of abilities.

Accessibility assessment approach

CDP had Nomensa (an independent third party) conduct an accessibility assessment in June 2024 against WCAG 2.2 guidelines. This included automated and manual testing, as well as testing with assistive technologies to ensure excellent coverage.

CDP is currently in the process of working through the accessibility issues flagged during this review. CDP is committed to retesting once we have addressed the major accessibility issues identified in the accessibility assessment.

Accessibility conformance status

This website is currently partially conformant to the WCAG 2.2 level AA.

We are in the process of fixing accessibility problems to align our digital platforms with WCAG 2.2 level AA.

Measures to support accessibility

Based on the results from the last accessibility audit, CDP is working on a meaningful roadmap to improve the accessibility of the website.

By working towards conformance to WCAG 2.2 level AA, we also aim to be compliant with global accessibility regulations for the private sector, like the upcoming European Accessibility Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

CDP is also pursuing a more accessible experience for users in areas where web accessibility is not (yet) mandatory by law or where it’s only mandatory for government sectors, for example under the Web Accessibility Directive (Europe), the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations (UK) or Section 508 (USA).

Known accessibility barriers

Below is a description of known limitations and potential solutions. Please contact us if you experience an issue that’s not listed below.

Known accessibility limitations:

  1. The site is primarily designed to be accessed on large screens and doesn’t function well when viewed on mobile devices or when zoomed.

  2. Some content becomes obscured or cut off on smaller screen sizes and portrait orientations.

  3. Various interactive controls don’t work with a keyboard, although they work with a mouse.

  4. The keyboard focus position isn’t always visible and occasionally moves in an illogical order.

  5. There is no skip link to be able to get past long navigations quickly with a keyboard.

  6. Sometimes keyboard focus becomes lost or moves to unexpected places after interacting with a control.

  7. Some interactive controls have been nested inside each other, leading to extra keyboard tab stops.

  8. Lots of form fields are not labelled correctly for screen reader or voice control users.

  9. Groups of form fields sometimes have a code structure that makes it difficult for screen readers to understand relationships between them.

  10. Some buttons don’t communicate their function correctly to screen readers.

  11. Some status, error or progress notifications aren’t automatically announced by screen readers.

  12. Reordering questions or table rows doesn’t work consistently with keyboards and screen readers, often requiring a dragging movement with a mouse.

  13. Charts rely on colour to understand them, and some chart information is only available when hovering with a mouse.

  14. Tutorial images don’t have alternative descriptions that accurately describe them.[GS1]

We plan to fix most issues by December 2026.
