This week, CDP and The World Bank released a joint report titled The Effect of Multinational Enterprises on Climate Change. This report highlights the effect of multi-national enterprises (MNEs) on climate change and the importance of technology in reducing industrial carbon emissions. In 2021, the direct emissions of just 157 large MNEs accounted for 10% of global industrial emissions, with their supply chains accounting for an additional 50%. However, only one in four of the 157 MNEs have committed to reaching net zero by 2050. Many multinational enterprises' long-term commitments are called into question due to the lack of immediate strategies to decarbonize their production and supply chains. MNE’s have a key role to play in the decarbonization of the economy, and CDP’s Accredited Solutions Providers (ASPs) can support your company with a range of bespoke services to help your business perform more sustainably. From helping to decarbonise your company’s supply chain to implementing science-based targets, our ASPs can help you demonstrate to your stakeholders that your business will continue to succeed as we transition to a net zero economy.
