Program areas

Home > Policy engagement and external affairs > Program Areas

CDP’s global policy team engages with policymakers and regulators in a number of key areas that can drive forward the environmental agenda. Our policy program areas include:

Sustainable finance and regulatory engagement

CDP work with governments, central banks and regulators to ensure that the financial system’s full potential is harnessed in the transition to a net-zero, nature-positive world.

Nature policy

CDP engages with policymakers to ensure that climate, forests, water and a wide range of environmental issues are considered in their decision making, leveraging data and insights from our questionnaires.

Mandatory environmental disclosure

CDP works closely with governments and regulators to support them in mandating and enforcing the highest possible standards of disclosure - putting our data, insights and expertise at their disposal.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

CDP is an accredited observer to the UNFCCC, ensuring that non-state actors and their actions are part of UN-processes such as the Conference of the Parties (COP).

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

CDP is a unique source of information for tracking progress of non-state actors against the SDGs and informing the development of policy that can ensure they are achieved.

Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)

CDP has the largest TCFD-aligned environmental database in the world, used by policymakers for decision making.

Regional focus

CDP’s Global Policy Team has staff based in the UK, Europe, North America, Japan, China, Latin America, India South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Find out more about our regional policy engagement and how to get in touch:
