Job Purpose and Background
Cities play a critical role in the global transition to a low-carbon economy, and many are already taking leading positions in this shift. Disclosure through the CDP platform is a key process that enables internal transformational change, external benchmarking and facilitates general awareness and accountability of cities’ transition plans. Increasingly these important data are being featured in analyses around non-Party climate action as part of a move to enhance monitoring, reporting & verification (MRV) and showcase subnational climate actions, including best practice sharing. You have a unique opportunity to be at the centre of a blooming ecosystem of data practitioners and data users focused on getting the most of cities’ annual climate accounts and related information.
CDP is looking for a motivated, talented and passionate Senior Data Analyst to join the Data Team in London. The primary foci for this role follow the cities data value chain after the point of disclosure, ensuring high quality and accurate data are being submitted, enhancing our data offering through modelling (e.g. utilizing predictive modelling techniques to estimate for non-disclosers) and collecting/integrating third-party data sources, and ensuring meaningful dissemination to maximize use of and action from these central cities data. With over 500 disclosing cities annually representing more than 300,000 unique response values stored, this is an ideal position for a data ninja to test, QA/QC, wrangle and model the data, and determine optimal outputs, including data visualizations, based on stakeholder requirements to benefit our natural environment.
About CDP’s Data Team
The Data Team is part of the wider Impact & Insights team. Its primary remit is to improve the usability of the corporate climate change, water security and forests data and cities, states & regions data disclosed to CDP by developing and applying robust and transparent methods for data cleaning and modelling. It supplements this work with harmonized data collected from external sources and seeks to enhance accessibility for CDP’s stakeholders. Additional to this, the team produces value-adding analyses that help internal and external stakeholders better understand these vital environmental data, and make better decisions from them.
