CDP is delighted to announce that Maxfield Weiss has been appointed as CDP Europe Executive Director, the newly created top management role of CDP Europe. Max will lead the organization following Steven Tebbe as Managing Director.
CDP recognizes Steven Tebbe’s significant contribution since 2010 to develop the organization into the success it is today. We now have over 2400 European companies with €7 trillion in annual revenue, worth nearly 80% of European market value, relying on CDP to disclose key environmental data.
They report this vital information to an ever-growing number of global financial institutions – over 590 in with $110 trillion in assets – and 43 European supply chain member companies. Despite the pandemic, 145 local governments across Europe also disclosed through CDP in 2020. Our disclosure system is backed by the French and Italian governments, and we are part of key policy advisory groups within the EU to drive better corporate reporting and develop sustainable finance regulation. The European economy depends on CDP’s engagement, data, and insights.
Having worked either with or for CDP since 2012, Maxfield Weiss is perfectly placed to continue to grow this impact and press CDP Europe forward. He brings vital first-hand experience of embedding ambitious sustainability into the heart of corporate strategy, having led Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s environmental supply chain work and created the world’s first supply chain management program based on climate science. Within CDP, his roles have included Director Corporate Engagement at CDP Europe from 2019, and previously Vice-President Insights at CDP North America, where he led our intersectional research and impact work for all CDP stakeholders.
CDP Europe has always benefited from stable and successful leadership, and Maxfield’s long-standing experience and core understanding of our mission and work reflect that well. The CDP Europe team, having grown to over 75 staff, has never been more capable and effective at delivering our mission. With this leadership change, CDP Europe will continue to accelerate our impact towards the European Union’s environmental goals and help realize our vision of a truly sustainable economy.
Europe’s green recovery from COVID-19 is taking shape, and our essential work to raise environmental ambition will play a critical role in the EU's success. We have an historic opportunity to recover in the right way, and all parts of our economy and society must truly transform and build forward better to succeed. For companies, financial institutions, cities, states and regions, we provide the roadmap and support their journey.
Europe is now the beating heart of global environmental action and innovation, and CDP has never been better placed to grow that momentum, keep it on track with the best data, and drive progress even faster.
