Global Water Report 2015

While substantial progress has been made in corporate disclosure around water issues, companies’ reliance on this precious resource is increasing at a time when water security around the world is worsening.


This report finds that:

  • Acting to improve water security remains a fundamental business imperative for many companies;
  • Eight businesses from four sectors have joined the CDP Water A List for their approach to water management;
  • Corporate water stewardship is becoming better understood, and leaders are emerging;
  • Tackling water challenges remains a CSR issue and action is urgently needed to close the gap; and
  • Water stewardship offers clear benefits to at-risk companies.

Companies’ reliance on this precious resource is increasing at a time when water security around the world is worsening.



Just as oil was to the 20th century, water is fast becoming the defining resource of the 21st century. Unfortunately however, unlike oil, there is no replacement for water. Companies using CDP’s water program are beginning to understand that taking a strategic view of how they manage water can enhance competitive advantage, investor appeal and business resilience.
