Global Forests Report 2015

With international efforts to address climate change accelerating, reducing deforestation and forest degradation is rising up the global agenda.

Companies have helped to drive momentum on this in recent years by pledging to remove agricultural commodity-driven deforestation from their supply chains. But how successful have businesses been in implementing these goals? “Realizing zero-deforestation” presents important new findings on how over 170 of the world’s largest companies, including Asia Pulp & Paper, Cargill and Unilever, are managing key commodities linked to forest loss and degradation.

In an era of climate change, protecting our forests is one of the best things we can do to prevent dangerous global warming. While policymakers have their role to play, companies too must enable suppliers to join their efforts to protect forests. The long-term viability of agricultural production, food security and climate action depend on this.
