Senior Manager, Urban Health, Cities, States and Regions

CDP has an exciting opportunity for a senior manager to work closely with the public health community to support the wider dissemination of research findings and ultimately drive urban climate action. Global researchers and experts studying the relationship between climate risks and health have also come to recognize the powerful potential of cities and are increasingly using and requesting CDP data and insights to measure and model health outcomes for urban populations. Global experts see CDP as a valuable partner, with the networks, tools, interventions and insights required to drive the uptake and impact of academic research and mainstream recommendations and findings.

You will work within the Cities team, reporting to the Global Director, Cities, States and Regions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engage with public health and climate change researchers to help them understand and access CDP’s data and insights
  • Expand CDP’s climate and health network – develop new meaningful partnerships with the public health community
  • Develop tools, interventions and insights to drive the uptake and impact of academic research to mainstream recommendations and findings with city governments
  • Connect city policy makers with cutting-edge public health research and recommendations
  • Work with the communications team to highlight the health co-benefits of climate change mitigation and adaptation in urban areas
  • Manage the collaboration with the named key project partners to ensure all grant deliverables are met
  • Present CDP's vision for low carbon, resilient cities, state and regional governments to a wide range of high-level audiences through round tables, webinars and other events
  • Fundraise to ensure the continued success of this work
  • Grant management and reporting to our funder
  • Closely collaborate with the regional teams and colleagues from other relevant teams

Required skills and experience:

  • A minimum of five years' experience managing relationships in the NGO, charity, corporate, or governmental sphere, preferably in climate change or public health
  • An understanding of the issues of climate change in cities and the field and actors working on international climate change mitigation/adaptation in cities, states and regions
  • Able to effectively interact with academia, researchers, and government officials;
  • Ability to build a strong professional network, and develop and maintain key relationships with peers and funders
  • Proven track record of project management and delivering tangible project outputs
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills in English. Other languages a plus
  • Self-starter with a positive and enthusiastic outlook and a strong collaborative working style
  • Experience working internationally and across cultures

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Central London office. The successful candidate will work 5 days per week with occasional evening work and international travel. You will be offered a fixed term contract for 2 years.
Salary and benefits: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, flexible working, annual discretionary bonus, 24 days’ holiday (increasing to 30), generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.
