Senior Project Officer, Net Zero

Job Purpose & Background

If you are passionate about climate action and want to have a global environmental impact by working at the nexus of private and public sectors - this is the perfect job for you. This is a Senior Project Officer role focusing on providing support to the Net-Zero Project Manager and the project team to successfully deliver, CDP’s Net Zero project.

This Senior Project Officer role represents an excellent opportunity for an individual early in their career in sustainability, or for someone looking to move into corporate sustainability from the NGO perspective. The successful candidate will sit within the Transformation & Projects Department and will work alongside the Net- Zero Project Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support in project coordination and specifically looking after project meeting calendar; scheduling meetings with the project team, project partner, internal and external project stakeholders
  • Support in preparation of key governance forums including project working groups; sending meeting invitations, responding to inquiries, taking notes.
  • Support in editing and formatting project deliverables
  • Support in the development of effective project communication and supporting documentation.
  • Providing general operational and administrative support to the project, as required.
  • The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time, and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, working in NGOs and/or commercial organisations;
  • Keen interest in issues related to the climate change, sustainability, environmental, and corporate social responsibility space;
  • Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail;
  • Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent MS Office Suite skills (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.);
  • Flexible and resilient, able to deliver on time and under pressure.
  • We are looking for a motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced and changing environment that can manage others and lead through change.

Salary and benefits: £28,000 - £32,000 per annum (pro-rata), 30 days’ holiday (pro rata) plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, Training and development, Flexible working opportunities and other benefits.

This is a 6-month fixed-term contract, to start asap, with a possibility of extension, depending on funding. The role is based in CDP’s London office with remote working and flexible hours to be agreed with the line manager.
