Senior Manager, Partnerships And Fundraising

Job purpose and background

Do you care about environmental issues? Would you like to be at the heart of driving changes through environmental disclosure?

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join CDP’s Cities, States and Regions team as Senior Manager for Partnerships and Fundraising to support our team to drive key initiatives, namely the City- Business Climate Alliance and Science Based Targets for Cities, as well as to pursue funding opportunities to ensure continued mission delivery. The City-Business Climate Alliance accelerates climate action and breaks down barriers to joint city and business climate action. Building off the success of the Science Based Targets initiative and in response to business demand to set targets for the whole Earth system, a group of organizations have come together to form the Science Based Targets Network. CDP will coordinate the group of partners working together to develop methods and resources to enable cities to set science-based targets for the interrelated “systems" of climate, freshwater, biodiversity, land and the ocean.

Key responsibilities:

  • Secure new funding for the CStaR team globally by actively identifying and pursuing fundraising opportunities, closely collaborating with CDP’s Development team and regional offices
  • Develop a fundraising strategy with support of the Development team
  • Implement and scale the City-Business Climate Alliance in collaboration with key partners, cities and businesses
  • Implement and scale CDP’s work on Science Based Targets for Cities alongside partner organizations
  • Update and maintain the Monitoring and Evaluation framework with support of the data and M&E officer.
  • Serve as cities engagement lead for the Science Based Targets Network
  • Represent CDP at external events and meetings
  • Line manage at least one member of staff

The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time, and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.

Required skills and experience:

  • Excellent knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation, with experience working with or for city or local governments
  • Development experience with a strong track record securing funding from philanthropic and government donors
  • Track record of managing strategic external relationships at a senior level
  • Familiarity with Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) frameworks
  • Ability to set priorities and deliver grant/project outputs
  • Line management experience of a small team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • A high level of self-motivation and drive
  • A team player with the ability to work under pressure
  • High proficiency in English language
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)

Desirable skills and experience:

  • A minimum of 5-7 years of working experience, ideally in a similar area
  • An interest in working for a global environmental NGO
  • Experience successfully managing grants
  • Knowledge of food issues, water security and resilience in cities, states and regions

The role is a full-time role based in CDP’s Central London Office (virtually at first) and sits within the Cities, States and Regions team. The successful candidate will be expected to work 5 days per week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract, starting asap with a possibility to extend based on successful fundraising.

Salary and benefits: £37-45k salary, flexible working, annual discretionary bonus, 30 days’ holiday, generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.

To apply please email your CV and a covering letter setting out how you meet the required skills and experience or key responsibilities, which should be no more than one page, to [email protected] with ‘Senior Manager, Partnerships and Fundraising, First name, Last name’ in the subject line.

The deadline is Monday 1 June 09:00 GMT.

Interested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK for the term of the contract. We are not able to sponsor this position.

Interviews will be held on a rolling basis. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.
