2022 States and Regions & Public Authorities Engagement Fellowship - Cities, States and Regions

Who you are

  • You are passionate about state and public authority sustainability and climate action—particularly in mitigation and adaptation efforts, and green infrastructure projects
  • You believe that there is significant potential in unleashing the power of action in states and regions and public authorities.
  • You are familiar with the roles that states and public authorities play in climate action
  • You come up to speed quickly and independently with technical information (such as emissions targets or sector-specific public authority indicators)
  • You can identify, analyze, and visualize data sets in the form of Excel and/or other database and presentation modalities with emphasis on impact, financial and justice/equity indicators.
  • You are outgoing with a personable attitude—superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and follow up via phone and email

Your day-to-day

  • You will conduct outreach and provide guidance and support to secure participation in CDP States and Regions and new Public Authorities annual disclosure through “cold call” phone calls and email support to state and provincial governments and public authorities in U.S. and Canada to ensure all participants complete and submit the questionnaire by the requisite deadline
  • You will cultivate, manage, and track relationships with state and public authority-based staff and leadership
  • You will maintain and update an internal database for all U.S. and Canada states and public authority contacts
  • You will support disclosure-related activities including initial meetings, standard and custom webinars, guidance review, relationships with affiliated organizations and associated Authority trade bodies.
  • You will support state and authority staff in understanding and utilizing the full services of CDP’s programs in addition to disclosure, including:
    • Matchmaker program—for city investments
    • CDP Accelerator—linking governments and businesses
    • Capital Markets – suite of financial opportunities
    • Supply Chain – Measuring upstream risk and opportunities
  • You will prepare, analyze, and deliver data and insights associated with States and Regions and Public Authorities

Bonus points

  • You have an educational background in sustainability, public policy, environmental science, or sustainable finance.
  • You have the drive to take ownership and responsibility for particular areas of work while collaborating well with team members in-person and virtually
  • You have the ability to spot trends and opportunities as well as focus on details
  • You have the desire and ability to improve and streamline processes to better and more efficiently achieve program goals, rather than follow the status quo
  • You have the ability to meet deadlines under pressure; self-motivated and willingness to be flexible (you will be working with teams across different time zones)

The perks!

  • Learning and career growth. We are committed to the growth and development of each individual team member. We offer continuous learning opportunities and training for personal development.
  • Future planning: We know it is important to plan for the future. We provide our employees with both a non-contributory 401K, and an optional additional contributory 401K. We also offer life insurance.
  • Commuter benefits: We know commuting can be a pain – we offer commuter benefits and a Citibike membership to employees to make life a little easier.
  • Fun. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves (too) seriously. We regularly take time out for fun and festivities, from all-staff retreats, to happy hours, to summer outings and an end-of-year holiday celebration!
