Internship - Technical Reporting

Duration: 3 months – starting January 2019
Days per week: We will be flexible in our approach and discuss your volunteering hours with you. We are looking for someone to be present at our London office for 3 days a week.

About Technical Reporting Team:

The Reporting team provides a critical contribution to CDP’s mission. We develop CDP’s world leading questionnaires and guidance for organizations reporting environmental information to investors and other data users.

The internship programme:

To apply for the programme you must live in London or a reasonable commuting distance
from our London office, which is located centrally.

All our volunteer interns will be assigned to a volunteer intern supervisor and will receive an induction, on-the-job training, coaching and one-to-one support. On successful completion of their placement, volunteer interns can request a reference.

Interns will get an insight into how an international environmental NGO operates with the opportunity to attend meetings and ask questions.

Role Purpose and Background:

The technical reporting intern requires outstanding attention to detail. This individual will support the successful delivery of questionnaires and guidance materials that will drive the largest corporations globally to disclose information and advance on their environmental stewardship journey. Assignments will cover all CDP’s questionnaires, including climate change, forests, and water. They will allow the intern to develop a good understanding of corporate environmental reporting and emerging practices, and to position themselves for a potential full-time role at CDP or another environmental NGO.

Key skills/tasks include:

  • Supporting the Technical Reporting team in delivering questionnaire and guidance improvements across all three themes of disclosure: climate change, water and forests.
  • Inputting revisions and updates to the questionnaire and guidance.
  • Creating audit logs for questionnaire revisions.
  • Tracking the revisions process as it flows across CDP teams.
  • Test and provide input on the usability of CDP’s online reporting system

Required skills and competencies:

  • Excellent IT competency
  • Attention to detail
  • Interest in the environment, the corporate world, and environmental reporting
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while aligning work with other team members
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills

Expenses

This is not a salaried position. We will cover your day-to-day travel and lunch expenses in line with our expenses policy. Lunch expenses will only be provided on days where over 3.5 hours volunteering have been completed.

How to apply

Interested applicants must be eligible to volunteer legally in the UK.

To apply please email your CV and a covering letter setting out how you meet the required skills and competencies, which should be no more than two pages, to [email protected] with ‘Technical Reporting Intern’ in the subject. Please note applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
