We are seeking a highly motivated individual to support CDP’s Corporate and Commit to Action work for the European Climate Pact Secretariat.
CDP Europe is one of the operators of the European Climate Pact Secretariat. The European Climate Pact is an EU-wide initiative inviting people, communities and organisations to participate in climate action and build a greener Europe. Individuals and organisations – including businesses and corporates – can get involved in the European Climate Pact in many ways. One of them is “pledging” i.e. committing to concrete action – whether small sustainable choices or big, bold projects – and sharing ideas and initiatives with others to inspire them to join.
About the Commit to Action Team:
The Commit to Action (CTA) Program focuses on driving the transition to a 1.5°C net-zero emissions economy, by working with the world’s most influential companies on a suite of climate leadership initiatives such as the Science Based Targets initiative and its flagship campaign Business Ambition for 1.5°C. The role includes:
- Supporting the European Climate Pact
pledging process for corporations;
- Engaging directly with corporates’
representatives to entice them to pledge, by sending targeted emails, having
virtual meetings, organising webinars, and other outreach modes;
- Overseeing
and conducting the MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification) of corporate
pledges; in particular setting up processes to monitor corporate pledges, conceptualize
and coordinate corporates’ reporting against them, and verify that pledges
fulfil certain ambition criteria;
- Acting as Helpdesk Officer in the Climate Pact Secretariat for outreach and stakeholder coordination, Businesses;
- Creating relevant engagement materials and content, such as technical notes;
- Coordinating relationships with various organisations;
- Analysing data and preparing reports;
- Assisting with ad-hoc tasks as required.
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum BA/BSc degree or
similar work experience;
- 3+ years’ relevant
experience and interest in working with European corporations; additional
experience in working with business associations, NGOs or foundations is an
advantage;
- A general understanding of
the issues of climate engagement of corporations in its wider range: emissions
inventories, emissions reduction, renewable energy, sustainable value chains, etc;
- Strong analytical skillset with
a strong ability to understand and abstract complex information and come up
with innovative solution suggestions to complex challenges, an affinity for data and
software/tools;
- Structured way of thinking and working, process and workflow orientation;
- Strong personal drive, demonstrable ability to take initiative, multi-task, prioritise and work under pressure;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal; ability to explain complex or challenging topics clearly and succinctly;
- At ease in stakeholder-facing situations, excellent sense for interpersonal contact, and confidence in interacting with high-level representatives from public and private sectors, using determination and diplomacy;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (esp. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word);
- Ability to work with teams in a multi-national setting;
- Proficiency in English; further European languages are a strong advantage.

The successful candidate will work five days per week in our Berlin office and must be able to work legally in Germany. This full-time role is based at our office in Berlin, Germany, will report to the Senior Project Lead, European Climate Pact, and will work closely with colleagues in CDP Europe to deliver the Climate Pact Secretariat.
