Communications and Marketing Manager

Job purpose and background

Are you passionate about communications and the environment? Are you looking for a role that uses your skills in strategic marketing and communications to make a difference? CDP is looking for a full-time, two-year fixed term Communications and Marketing Manager. This is a unique opportunity to make your mark in a dynamic business and city-facing non-profit organization.

You will be part of our global communications team, which is responsible for CDP’s external global communications and marketing. You will be a results-oriented self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider global team, and to ensure that plans and campaigns are in line with CDP’s strategic plan as well as the needs of our target audiences.

We have a busy schedule of corporate focused communications and marketing campaigns. The successful candidate will join our busy communications and marketing team and work closely with an existing Communications Manager for Corporations & Supply Chains.

They will be responsible for developing and implementing a series of exciting marketing and communications campaigns for CDP. This will include supporting the adoption of complementary initiatives designed to drive the business transition to net-zero emissions, such as The Climate Pledge, and leading communications and marketing activities for an SME focused project.

The role will work closely with colleagues in CDP’s Corporations and Supply Chains teams and Commit to Action (CTA) Program which focuses on driving the transition to a sustainable 1.5°C net-zero emissions economy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate proactive multi-channel communications and marketing campaigns in collaboration with internal colleagues, in particular supporting the activities of CDP’s Corporations and Supply Chains teams and providing comms support for the development of key engagement materials;
  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of communications plans and campaigns for specific programs of activity for target markets, in collaboration with key partner organizations and internal stakeholders and team members;
  • Work with others in the team to maximize media coverage of CDP through compelling news stories and thought leadership;
  • Develop creative content in line with CDP’s content strategy and plan, for media articles, blogs, social media, marketing collateral, etc, managing third party designers as well as working with the internal content and digital teams, and overseeing implementation of brand guidelines;
  • Build relationships and manage global coordination of specific marketing and communications campaigns as required with CDP offices and external partners.
  • Maximise the effectiveness of key digital channels to meet project and campaign goals, working closely with the digital team;
  • Regular in-campaign reporting, monitoring and evaluation throughout and at the end of specific projects;

Required skills and experience:

  • Strong experience of developing, delivering and evaluating multi-channel communications and marketing plans across content, marketing and digital, including email engagement and webinar campaigns;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues and partners;
  • Demonstrable experience of successful communications and marketing projects which have delivered against project objectives.
  • Strong analytical mind with the ability to turn complex information into compelling stories and content;
  • Strong copy-writing and editing skills and excellent attention to detail;
  • Experience in promoting content on a wide range of digital and traditional platforms;
  • An understanding of and desire to work proactively to promote corporate sustainability;
  • Excellent team skills and the flexibility to work across the business and with global offices;
  • Strong drive to deliver against targets;
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines under pressure, manage multiple project and stakeholder demands simultaneously;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; and
  • At least the equivalent of 5 years of relevant experience in communications, PR or marketing.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience of project managing communications and marketing deliverables;
  • Knowledge of digital marketing best practice and experience with digital marketing tools and software
  • PR experience and demonstrable knowledge of international media, including business, trade and environment media;
  • Experience of working in the non-profit sector
  • Experience of working with SMEs and or supply chains
  • Experience working as part of a global team;
  • Fluency in other languages is welcome but not essential.

This is a full-time, fixed-term role, reporting to the Senior Communications Manager.

Salary and benefits: £35-40k per annum, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), 30 days’ holiday, generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.
