CDP’s annual A List names the world's most pioneering companies leading on environmental transparency and performance. This year, we recognize more than 200 corporates as the leaders acting to address environmental risks and build our future sustainable economy - one that works for both people and planet.
By scoring companies from A to D-, we take them on a journey through disclosure to awareness, management, and finally to leadership. Our scoring measures the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets.
CDP is constantly evolving our disclosure and scoring system in response to market needs and the rising urgency of the environmental challenges the world faces.

CDP scoring drives corporate transparency and helps to guide, incentivize and assess environmental action. In 2019, over 8,400 companies disclosed through CDP – a significant 20% increase on the previous year. Reporting companies now represent over 50% of global market capitalization.
The Climate A List was established in 2011 and introduced for water and forests in 2015 and 2016 respectively. A significantly smaller pool of organizations is asked to respond on forests and water than climate, and as such we have more companies responding and receiving an A score for climate. Where relevant, we encourage companies to disclose across all three to achieve double or triple A status. An ‘F’ indicates a failure to provide sufficient information to be evaluated.

* An ‘F’ indicates a failure to provide sufficient information to CDP to be evaluated for this purpose. Not all companies requested to respond to CDP do so. Companies who are requested to disclose their data and fail to do so, or fail to provide sufficient information to CDP to be evaluated will receive an F. An F does not indicate a failure in environmental stewardship.
