For nearly two decades, CDP has been bringing investors together and using their combined influence to push for more and better environmental reporting from companies. This approach has worked, and we now have the most comprehensive and consistent global environmental dataset for investors to access.
CDP disclosure request
Every year, investors working with CDP ask companies to respond to our questionnaires on climate change, deforestation and water security. These investors can then access the companies’ responses and can use the data and insights in their own investment process.
- In 2021, over 590 investors with assets of over US$110 trillion are requesting thousands of companies to disclose to them through CDP.
- In 2021, over 13,000 companies with 64% of global market capitalization, disclosed data through CDP on climate change, water security and deforestation.
- In 2018, we incorporated the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) into our reporting system. Investors can now track which companies are TCFD-compliant.
We also run a non-disclosure campaign, in which we work with investors to target companies that repeatedly fail to disclose.
