Senior Digital and Content Manager, Science Based Targets Initiative

Job purpose and background

Are you passionate about communications and the environment? Are you looking for a role that uses your digital communications, content-creation and strategy skills to make a difference?

CDP has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Digital & Content Manager to join the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Communications team. You will be based in CDP’s Communications and Marketing team in our London headquarters.

The SBTi is a worldwide initiative that motivates companies to set ambitious targets to cut their greenhouse emissions.

You will be responsible for developing and implementing the SBTi’s content and digital strategies, including oversight of content creation, brand and digital channels.

About the Science Based Targets initiative

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) mobilizes companies to set science-based targets and boost their competitive advantage in the transition to the low-carbon economy. It is a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. The initiative defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves companies’ targets. www.sciencebasedtargets.org @sciencetargets

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the SBTi’s digital and content strategies, in support of the initiative’s overall goals;
  • Oversee all SBTi content creation, including blogs, case studies, infographics and data visualization;
  • Work with the SBTi communications team to develop content;
  • Oversee brand and ensure brand consistency in a complex multi-stakeholder environment;
  • Oversee the SBTi’s website including content edits, workflows, approvals and processes, optimizing content according to SEO and supporting the development of site content, style and layout;
  • Oversee the SBTi social media channels, ensuring alignment with agreed content and digital strategy, brand and metrics;
  • Optimize content according to SEO;
  • Line manage Digital Communications Executive.

You will have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria:

  • At least the equivalent of 7 years of relevant experience in digital communications and content;
  • Strong experience of developing, implementing and evaluating highly successful multi-channel communications strategies and campaigns;
  • Experience managing a website;
  • Strong analytical mind with the ability to turn complex information into compelling stories and content;
  • Extensive experience in creating and promoting content on a wide range of digital and traditional platforms, including social media;
  • Demonstrable experience of successful management/oversight of social media channels (including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook);
  • Strong understanding of best practice in multimedia content-creation and digital communications (e.g. best practice for website content, UX and SEO);
  • A strong eye for visual content, with substantial experience implementing brand guidelines, and working with external parties on the creation of content such as infographics, GIFs, videos and social media cards;
  • Excellent writing skills with extensive experience leading on long-form and short form written content;
  • Creative approach for impactful communications in a complex and competitive global landscape;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and nurture relationships both internally and externally, including complex multi-stakeholder relationships;
  • Excellent team skills and the flexibility to work across the business and with global offices;
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to meet deadlines under pressure and manage multiple project and stakeholder demands simultaneously;
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Desirable criteria (optional)

  • Experience working with global corporations;
  • Experience working as part of a global team;
  • Line management experience;
  • Experience working for not-for-profit organizations;
  • Experience developing brand guidelines.

This is a full time role reporting to the Global Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing. Initially the role will be remote-based due to COVID-19, with the expectation to work from CDP’s London office when restrictions allow.

This is a fixed term contract ending 31 December 2022, with the possibility to extend it based on funding.

Salary and benefits: £43,000 - £46,000 per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, Training and development, Flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
