Corporate Engagement Officer

Job Purpose and Background

With COP26 to be held in Glasgow this year, 2021 marks a critical year for the UK, and CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Corporate Engagement team in London. This entry-level role represents an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to start their career in sustainability, or for someone looking to move into corporate sustainability from the NGO perspective.

The Corporate Engagement team facilitates the company journey for thousands of companies globally from their first response to making bold environmental commitments and beyond. The London based Corporate Engagement team works with companies in the UK and other regions including the Middle East, Africa and Russia and works closely with our global counterparts. In this role, you will support the delivery of CDP’s global corporate engagement strategy and will also undertake direct engagement with companies from a broad range of sectors across all thematic programs (climate, forests and water security). You will work closely with global teams across the organisation to ensure a smooth experience for companies reporting through the CDP platform.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake active engagement with companies to encourage and support their disclosure to CDP on Climate change, forests and water security
  • Join workstreams identified by the Global Engagement Team as essential to efficient and impactful engagement with thousands of non-member investor requested companies globally
  • Coordination of key engagement materials and training resources for use by global Corporate Engagement team colleagues
  • Maintenance and use of data in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
  • Supporting the Corporate Engagement team’s work with other departments, especially CDP’s technical team, to ensure that processes are in-line with the engagement materials and communications
  • Supporting the Corporate Engagement Manager to provide support to country partners in the region

The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.

Required skills and experience:

  • Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail
  • Keen interest in corporate sustainability and related company challenges
  • Ability to work with global colleagues, and develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Familiarity and experience working with Customer Relationship Management systems and Excel
  • Degree educated or equivalent (Environment/Sustainability- related degree desirable)

Desirable:

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a similar role, working in NGOs and/or commercial organisations
  • Experience of working in a global organisation
  • Additional language skills

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Central London office reporting to the Manager, Corporate Engagement.

Interested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.

Salary and benefits: up to £24,000, per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, Training and development, Flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
