CDP government partnerships

To drive faster progress towards international climate and environmental objectives, national government bodies and agencies support CDP's disclosure system and request.

CDP’s government partnerships are designed to help governments and other public institutions to analyze the impact of non-state climate action towards achieving international and national climate targets and national climate plans, including the European Green Deal.

By endorsing CDP’s disclosure invitation, governmental bodies and agencies increase the quantity and quality of climate and environmental data reported to CDP each year.

By joining CDP as a government partner, governmental bodies and agencies are equipped with CDP's data, expertise, analysis and capacity-building to track and measure the impact of public policies.

CDP's is the world's biggest and most comprehensive climate and environmental dataset, with 8400 companies and 920 subnational governments disclosing each year.

How the endorsement process works

CDP provides governments with a comprehensive list of all companies, cities and regions requested to disclose, indicating whether or not the company, city or region followed the request.

By the end of February: the Government provides its logo to CDP and gives permission to CDP to use it for endorsement of the CDP disclosure system. The logo will then be included in the disclosure request letter sent to companies, cities and regions, as well as published on the CDP website as a public signatory.

April until July: CDP takes on all further action and communicates the endorsement through our standard engagement process with companies, cities and regions. If desired, CDP reports back on the progress in disclosure numbers. This includes a disclosure tracker detailing the status of companies’, cities’ and regions’ disclosure effort and progress.

September: At the end of the CDP disclosure cycle, CDP reports back on the final disclosure rates and expected impact as well as the progress towards delivering on the goal of the Paris Agreement.
