The Road to COP26

The UK is hosting the UN Climate Change Conference – known as COP26 – in Glasgow from 1-12 November 2021. As we enter this critical decade of climate action – and against the backdrop of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – this summit is poised to be one of the most consequential climate events since the negotiation of the Paris Agreement in 2015. In order to build a more sustainable, resilient and zero-carbon future, we need a whole economy transformation in which non-state actors will play an increasingly vital role.

Commit to 2030 interim targets and long-term goals

COP26 must drive an increase in the adoption of robust 2030 targets and net-zero long-term goals for a 1.5 degree, resilient future, where climate and nature are tackled coherently.

Disclose and track progress on environmental action

Action is underway to achieve net-zero, 1.5°C aligned targets. This action is transparently disclosed, communicated, and tracked to measure and manage risk across the economy.

Lay the foundations of a sustainable financial system

Capital markets must align with the Paris Agreement goals to transition to a net-zero, resilient economy, in which the environmental risks to both people and planet are embedded.
