Global Director, Water Security
During her tenure as CDP’s Global Director, Water Security, Cate has built the world's largest coalition of non-state actors working to deliver a water secure future. Having grown the number of companies engaging from 150 in 2012 to over 4,500 today, Cate has positioned CDP’s water program as the gold standard of corporate water action. Cate led the development of CDP’s corporate water scoring methodology as well as our work to increase water-related transparency and associated due diligence throughout private finance. Having developed the world’s first portfolio water impacts reporting framework aimed at banks, asset managers, asset owners and insurance companies, she is now leading the development of a Water Action Pathway for Finance alongside a range of partners.
Further, Cate is now spearheading CDP’s multimillion, multi-partner expansions into plastic pollution and ocean health. Her work is ensuring that CDP leverages its expertise, experience, networks and disclosure mechanisms to deliver transformational change and positive outcomes on these major global crises.
In addition to her time at CDP, Cate is also a strategic advisor to the UNFCCCC’s High Level Climate Champions, the Co-Chair of the Science Based Target Network Council, a knowledge partner of the TNFD, a founder of the Fair Water Footprints Coalition and one of Thompson Reuters 2023 Trailblazing Women working on Climate.
