Temporary position: Project Officer, Cities, States and Regions Team

Job purpose and background:

Over 7000 stakeholders worldwide use CDP’s system every year to report their progress on tackling climate change. Major universities, the UNFCCC, the World Bank, the IPCC, and hundreds of other organizations rely on CDP’s city data for research and decision-making.
CDP has an exciting opportunity for an individual to work with CDP’s cities, states and regions data. You will be involved in a variety of tasks to support cities committed to the Global Covenant of Mayors, an international alliance of city networks. The main tasks will involve reviewing and analysing individual city responses in line with the requirements of the Global Covenant, clarifying technical issues and providing high-quality support to local governments and CDP’s Cities, States and Regions team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and analyse individual CDP city responses against the Global Covenant requirements;
  • Support engagement with cities worldwide to ensure a high level of data completeness;
  • Provide technical support to the Senior Global Covenant Coordinator and the Regional Managers;
  • The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time, and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.

Required skills and experience:

  • Excellent analytical skills, full proficiency in Excel;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Ability to quickly grasp and master new IT systems;
  • Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex or challenging topics clearly and succinctly;
  • Ability to be adaptable to a fast paced and changing work environment; and hit the ground running across all key responsibilities;
  • A positive and enthusiastic team player with the ability to work under pressure.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience working on cities and climate change related topics;
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese desirable;

The Project Officer role is a role based in CDP’s Central London Office reporting to the Senior Global Covenant Coordinator. The successful candidate will work 5 days per week. You will be offered a fixed term contract for 2,5 months.

Salary: £22,020 pa on full-time basis
