Job purpose and background:
CDP has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with proven self-starter skills to become CDP’s expert on sub-national governments in regard to climate change and supporting them on their pathway to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. The Senior Technical Officer will provide expertise on states and regions including one or more of the following areas: GHG accounting, GHG mitigation, risk identification, resilience and adaptation to the cities, states and regions team and wider organization. The focus of the role is to improve CDP’s annual states and regions questionnaire covering climate, water and forest information as well as to produce comprehensive and up to date reporting guidance documentation for states and regions disclosing through CDP.
Over 600 city governments and 120 state and regional governments worldwide use CDP’s system every year to report their progress on tackling climate change. Major universities, the UNFCCC, the World Bank, the IPCC, and hundreds of other organizations rely on CDP’s data for research and decision-making.
This role would be suitable for a person interested in a career in emissions accounting and sub-national government climate action.

The Senior Technical Officer role is a full-time role based in CDP’s Central London Office and sits within the technical reporting team. The successful candidate will be expected to work 5 days per week. You will be offered a fixed term contract starting asap.
Salary and benefits: salary: 27-30k p.a. depending on experience, flexible working, annual discretionary bonus, 24 days’ holiday (increasing to 30 with years of service), generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.
