Senior Technical Officer, Climate Change and Supply Chain, Reporting

Job Purpose and Background:

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Technical Reporting team which develops the CDP questionnaires and the reporting guidance. You will play a key role in updating the existing corporate climate change questionnaire as well as in developing new sector-specific questions and the related guidance and technical documents. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance GHG accounting and environmental reporting knowledge and to develop analytical, technical writing and project management skills. The role requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, varied environment, to analyse complex data and to think critically and innovatively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Technical Manager in day-to-day tasks related to the delivery of the climate change questionnaire and guidance for companies;
  • Conducting desk studies and working in collaboration with several teams to draft new sector-specific questions and reporting guidance for real estate, construction materials and capital goods sectors;
  • Analysing response data in Excel to inform the questionnaire revisions and new development;
  • Writing and proof-reading reporting guidance and other technical documents;
  • Supporting the Technical Manager in running external working groups and managing stakeholder relationships;
  • Inputting questionnaires and guidance into CDP’s online systems and supporting IT testing if required;
  • Responding to internal technical queries on the climate change questionnaire and guidance;
  • Preparing presentations and presenting information to colleagues and companies.

Required skills and experience:

  • A relevant academic qualification and/or 2 years+ of professional experience in a climate change-related role;
  • The ability to understand, organize and analyse qualitative and quantitative data using Excel;
  • The ability to present complex information in a simple and concise way;
  • Strong communication skills including an excellent standard of written English;
  • Proficiency in producing PowerPoint presentations;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work effectively under pressure, whilst still paying attention to detail and maintaining strategic overview;

Desirable skills (one or more of the following would be an advantage):

  • Knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting standards;
  • Good understanding of or experience in real estate, construction materials and/or capital goods sectors;
  • Familiarity with the CDP climate change questionnaire;
  • Previous experience with environmental reporting frameworks;
  • Advanced level of Excel data analysis skills.

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Central London office reporting to the Technical Manager, Climate Change and Supply Chain.

The successful candidate will be provided with a contract for a fixed term of 12 months.

Salary and benefits: £27-30k per annum, annual discretionary bonus, 24 days’ holiday (increasing to 30), generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.
