Senior Environmental Analyst

Job purpose and background

Do you want to be part of an exciting expansion of CDP’s work in driving action and to make a difference in tackling the impact companies have on the environment? Do you have an interest in driving action and disclosure on nature-based solutions, waste and the oceans?

You will work in CDP’s Environmental Practice supporting us to deliver a program of activities as we expand our system to cover all the planetary boundaries, as part of the implementation of our new strategy. Reporting to the Director of the Environmental Practice and Through Leadership, you will have good knowledge of corporate sustainability issues, excellent project management, data analytics and presentations skills, and the ability to communicate across a range of levels.

About the Environmental Practice Team

For over 20 years, CDP has been leading on driving disclosure and action on climate change, waste security and deforestation and we are now expanding to cover a range of issues, including sustainable land management, biodiversity, waste and oceans. The Environmental Practice team is at the heart of this expansion. The team includes a range of experts and coordinators who are passionate about driving change in the world and includes the team working on Science Based Targets for climate and nature; RE100; and our landmark water security and forest programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Environmental research in a broad range of areas to support the development of our waste, oceans and resilience programs
  • Analysis of our existing data to find cross-thematic synergies
  • Providing content for fundraising bids
  • Coordinating work across the thematic teams and with internal stakeholders
  • Engaging with companies and investors working in these areas
  • Supporting the development of questionnaires and guidance documents

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant work experience in sustainability.
  • Previous knowledge/experience of corporate environmental disclosure and standards is desired;
  • Highly organized, fast learner and strong attention to detail;
  • IT literate with excellent knowledge of MS-Excel; experience in data analytics and management will be considered as a strong advantage;
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, climate science or environmental management is required. Master’s degree is preferred; and
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
