Senior Climate Change Project Officer, TCFD

Job purpose and background

Do you want to make a difference when it comes to tackling climate change? Do you have an interest in pushing forward corporate disclosure on climate action?

You will work with CDP’s global climate team to deliver a program of activities which will help build a portal that tracks corporate disclosures that are aligned with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) through CDP’s platform. Reporting to the Climate Change Manager, you will have excellent data analytics and presentations skills, and the ability to communicate across a range of levels.

CDP was an early supporter, and adopter of the TCFD’s recommendations, with a fully aligned corporate disclosure platform since 2018. With CDP’s close to 10,000 corporate disclosures in 2020, CDP is one of the largest platforms for TCFD aligned disclosure. You will also have the opportunity to look beyond the climate-focussed TCFD, and work to find synergies with the Task Force for Nature-related Financial Disclosures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain a TCFD portal that tracks company progress on implementing all aspects of the TCFD recommendations
  • Lead on TCFD-related data analysis to a sectoral and regional level
  • Support in the development of reporting recommendations built on emerging Net-Zero accounting frameworks and target setting for companies of all sectors
  • Create engagement materials for CDP’s corporate engagement teams linked to the TCFD, as well as links with the Science-Based Targets and Assessing the Low-Carbon Transition methodologies
  • Support corporate engagement relating to the TCFD through webinars and workshops
  • Build capacity for and awareness of TCFD recommendations in Asia
  • Support in building our existing TCFD analysis for policymakers

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant work experience. Previous knowledge/experience of corporate environmental disclosure, particularly TCFD is desired;
  • Knowledge of GHG protocol;
  • Highly organized, fast learner and strong attention to detail;
  • IT literate with excellent knowledge of MS-Excel; experience in data analytics and management will be considered as a strong advantage;
  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, climate science or environmental management is required. Master’s degree is preferred; and
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

What we offer:

  • Exciting and challenging tasks in a dynamic, international, innovative and highly motivated team;
  • Competitive NGO salary and annual bonus (depending on company results); and
  • Attractive holidays to be determined based on location.

This role can be done from either London or Berlin but would be currently working from home. It is a 1 year fixed term contract. The ideal starting date would be early May 2021. The interviews will take place w/c 5th April 2021.
