Senior Climate Analyst - Transition Plans

Job purpose and background

Are you passionate about sustainability and ESG? Are you passionate about climate change? Do you enjoy analyzing corporate strategies and translating their impact for investors and a wider audience?

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Disclosure Evolution team in London for a 1 year fixed term contract. This role represents an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience on corporate sustainability, most specifically climate change, looking to play a key role analyzing corporate transition plans.

This role will focus on supporting CDP’s ambition to improve investors understanding of the growing number of transition plans companies have been establishing by providing expert advice on what they mean, how they translate to driving change and if they meet the level of ambition necessary for a low-carbon future. We are looking for someone who is reliable, efficient, passionate, has expert knowledge about sustainability and who takes pride in working to a high standard.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct desktop research of corporate transition plans
  • Work with core CDP staff and external experts to assess the transition plans
  • Create clear, concise analytical outputs for CDP stakeholders
  • Produce compelling presentations to showcase results of the assessments to technically diverse audiences
  • Provide expert advice on data requirements to improve the understanding of the transition plans
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on the analysis
  • Support the Environmental Practice team on the analysis of transition plans for reports and communications
  • Support the wider Disclosure team as required

The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.

Required skills and experience:

  • Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver results to tight deadlines;
  • Keen interest in corporate sustainability and related company challenges
  • Good background in environment, GHG and current issues related with ESG, and the willingness to develop a high level of knowledge (Master’s preferred);
  • Ability to work with global colleagues, and develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative datasets
  • Technical ability manipulating data in excel, CVS and other data analytical tools
  • Experience of working in a global organisation (Desirable)
  • Additional language skills (Desirable)

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Central London office reporting to the Head of Disclosure Evolution (working from home in interim while lockdown restrictions are in place)

Salary and benefits: £36,000, per annum, 30 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, generous non-contributory pension provision, annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), Employee Assistance Programme, life assurance, Training and development, Flexible working opportunities and other benefits.
