With COP26 to be held in Glasgow this year, 2021 marks a critical year for the UK, and CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Corporate Relations and Commit to Action teams in London for a 2-years fixed term contract. This position is an exciting opportunity to apply campaigning skills and climate change knowledge in the context of an environmental NGO that works with many of the world’s largest multinationals.

About the Corporate Relations Team and Commit to Action Team
The Commit to Action (CTA) Program focuses on driving the transition to a 1.5°C net-zero emissions society, by working with the world’s most influential companies on a suite of climate leadership initiatives such as the Science Based Targets initiative and its flagship campaign Business Ambition for 1.5°C andRE100.

The London based Corporate Relations team works with companies in the UK and other regions including the Middle East, Africa and Russia and works closely with our global counterparts. In this role, you will support the delivery of CDP’s Commit To Action strategy. You will work closely with global teams across the organisation to ensure a smooth experience for companies reporting through the CDP platform.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a regional strategy for UK & WW companies’ engagement on the Science Based Targets Initiative Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign in the run up to COP26;
  • Driving the adoption of other initiatives driving the business transition to net-zero emissions like The Climate Pledge;
  • Talk about the initiatives in public capacity at events, workshops, roundtables and corporate meetings;
  • Working closely with the Commit to Action Associate Director in coordination of the campaign, particularly in the management of relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including with commitment/ initiative partners, regional partners and collaborators, industry groups, and consumer groups to advance CDP and CTA’s corporate engagement strategy and goals;
  • Coordinate closely with key CDP UK and Worldwide colleagues in CDP Corporates and Supply Chains teams and contribute to the development of key engagement materials for use by the global CDP Corporate Relations team;
  • Supporting the Commit to Action team work with other departments, especially CDP’s communications team on initiatives and campaign related communications and marketing efforts;
  • Utilizing internal client relationship management systems (CRM and Excel) to keep records and track progress;
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required

Required skills and experience:

  • At least three years’ prior professional experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in campaign work, sales, project management, and/or event management preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to interact with high-level stakeholders with confidence and fluency on key campaign messages and goals;
  • Strong attention to detail, time management and organization skills, with an ability to work effectively under pressure;
  • Knowledge of environmental sustainability topics, particularly GHGs, climate change and renewables
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to make complex technical subjects accessible to non-expert audiences
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a culturally and geographically diverse professional environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of teams and external stakeholders, liaising as needed across different time zones, teams, and cultures within the organization;
  • Understanding of the aims and objectives of CDP, as well as a passionate desire to drive forward the mission of CDP.

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Central London office reporting to the Associate Director, Commit to Action.
