Project Officer, Global Covenant Of Mayors

Job purpose and background

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join CDP’s Cities, States and Regions team as Project Officer to support the Global Covenant Coordinator on their work with our key partner the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM). The key areas of responsibility are data validation of cities’ responses against the requirements of the Common Reporting Framework, provision of technical expertise on GCoM initiatives as well as to support global cities reporting through CDP.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review and analyse individual city responses against the Global Covenant requirements
  • Support engagement with cities worldwide to ensure a high level of data quality and completeness
  • Provide technical support to the GCoM Coordinator and CStaR colleagues in the regions
  • Coordinate the day-to-day relationship with the Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM) and other partners involved and be their focal point for operational queries
  • Support the Global Covenant Coordinator in a variety of tasks regarding internal and external coordination and communication as well as data cleaning, extraction and sharing.
  • Support the collaboration with CDP’s Data and Technology teams

The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time, and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.

Required skills and experience:

  • Basic subject matter expertise on city governments and climate change with knowledge of greenhouse gas inventory methodologies used by cities
  • Good data analysis skills in Excel
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • A high level of self-motivation and drive
  • A team player with the ability to work under pressure
  • Great attention to detail and commitment to achieving high standards
  • High proficiency in English language
  • Ability to grasp IT and data requirements
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of the following with regards to sub-national governments: drivers of deforestation, water security, resilience, adaptation, mitigation
  • Familiarity with ‘R’
  • Experience with CRM and data base systems
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are an advantage
  • An interest in working for a global environmental NGO

The role is a full-time role based in CDP’s Central London Office and sits within the Cities, States and Regions team, with a reporting line to the Global Covenant Coordinator. The successful candidate will be expected to work 5 days per week. This is a fixed term contract with until 31 Dec 2022, starting asap.

Salary and benefits: £23-25k salary, flexible working, annual discretionary bonus, 30 days’ holiday, generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.
