Project Officer-Carbon Pricing

Job Purpose and Background

Do you have a passion for the environment and sustainability want to make a difference? Would you like to work with the leading businesses in India on climate action? We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and self-driven individual who would work on carbon pricing with corporates and policy makers. The role would involve acting as the secretariat for the ongoing project and also providing evidence backed inputs on carbon pricing. The role involves working in a fast paced varied and autonomous environment.

You would be responsible for engaging with companies encouraging them to move towards a low carbon transition and help them achieve it. At the same time, you would also be working closely on managing and delivering on key performance indicators on carbon pricing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying a target list of companies whom CDP can engage with on carbon pricing
  • Supporting the manager and senior technical officer with engaging targeted companies (CDP signatories and non signatories) on raising ambition on internal carbon pricing and the science based targets initiative (SBTi).
  • Supporting outreach, awareness and capacity building of companies on value of internal carbon pricing by organizing webinars / workshops / one on one support, as required
  • Preparing reports and research on current state of internal carbon pricing in India; including primary and secondary research and analysis
  • Work with the senior communications and policy officer to prepare materials on internal carbon pricing in India
  • Contribute to the India’s team engagement with policy makers to underscore the importance of carbon pricing as a risk mitigation tool; support in preparing policy briefs
  • The precise description and nature of your job may be varied from time to time and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs

You will have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria:

  • Relevant qualification with minimum of 1+ year of full-time work experience in fields relevant to sustainability and climate change
  • Strong analytical ability to conduct research and process primary and secondary data
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to deliver high quality deliverables within tight deadlines with minimum of 1+ years full time work experience in fields relevant to sustainability and climate change
  • Detail-oriented and organized thinker who can juggle multiple, competing priorities
  • High accountability, ownership of tasks and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and internet research
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multiple departments
  • Fluent English required; both verbal and written

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience in sustainability reporting / GHG inventory / climate change
  • Good knowledge of local and global sustainability and environmental issues
  • Basic understanding of carbon pricing regulations
  • Basic understanding of different forms of internal carbon pricing

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s New Delhi office for a fixed term of 2 years (with possibility of renewable basis performance).

Salary and Benefits: INR 6,00,000 - 8,00,000 exclusive of annual discretionary bonus (depending on company performance), 22 holidays (annually) plus bank holidays
