Information Analyst

Job purpose and background

CDP is looking for a capable Information Analyst who is passionate about the power of data to solve environmental issues. The Information Analyst will be shaping the delivery by collaborating with business and data teams to contribute to the acquisition of corporate data requirements, documenting them according to the required standards utilising the prescribed methods and data tools, in order to build our centralised data platform.

Develop data set processes for data modelling, mining and production. Work closely with data architects (to determine what data management systems are appropriate) and data scientists (to determine which data are needed for analysis). Provide clean, usable data to the business through the data platform in accordance with governance. Analyse, design, plan, execute and evaluate data requirements to support business activities and projects.

As part of its strategic ambitions CDP has defined a set of transformation and project initiatives to realize its strategic goals of higher impact, improved stakeholder experience and disclosure information. Successful execution of this portfolio of projects over the coming years is a priority of the Executive Leadership Team of CDP.

To this end, we are strengthening our transformation and project delivery capability by setting up a new Transformation & Project Management Office (PMO) function to help initiate, monitor and accelerate projects, act as a sparring partner to project owners and support CDPs Executive Leadership Team in respect of screening, selecting and prioritizing projects to de-fine a project portfolio aligned with CDPs overarching strategy.

This role of Information Analyst is central in ensuring delivery of world-class digital products and changing the delivery culture in CDP and reports to the Head of Project Management Office.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the investigation of corporate data requirements, documenting them according to the required standards utilising the prescribed methods and tools
  • Interface with business stakeholders to understand, interpret and document technical data
  • Utilise BDD (behaviour driven development) to as method for capturing requirements
  • Develop and document solution data processes, workflows, data structures, business rules, BI/reporting etc.
  • Support stage gates with development and delivery of project related documentation, including change management process
  • Coordinate process and ways of working related activities for user acceptance testing of the solution
  • Use validation and verification techniques to confirm product/service needs
  • Identify problems within the business, including through using data modelling techniques
  • Communicate with senior people in organisations to find out what they hope to achieve business requirements

Required skills and experience:

  • Creation and communication of functional/non-functional Business Requirements documentation
  • Strong experience of operating model design for business intelligence and reporting
  • Stakeholder engagement – able to build relationships and use expertise to influence and shape delivery plans and strategies
  • Digital delivery – has a track record of working on DevOps delivery
  • Exposure in Climate Change data legislation, practices and stakeholders is a plus
  • Experience in Environmental related industries i.e. Water, Energy, Forestry related is a plus
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Business Analysis Qualification (ISEB, Agile etc) is a plus
  • Structured problem-solving techniques

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract role to October 1, 2021, reporting to the Head of Project Management Office.
