CDP Hong Kong is looking for a full-time Communications Manager to develop, implement, and lead integrated multi-channel media and communications strategies and plans in the Asia Pacific region. This is a unique opportunity to make your mark in a dynamic business-facing organization that works with some of the largest companies in the region on disclosing their environmental risks, opportunities, and impacts to mitigate climate change, improve water security, and tackle deforestation. We are looking for a results-oriented self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a wider global team.

The successful candidate will play an integral role within CDP’s global communications team, which is responsible for the organisation’s external global communications and marketing, and manage CDP Hong Kong’s communications strategies in line with the specific needs of the region’s target audiences.

This role will report to the Director of CDP Hong Kong and work closely with the central communications team to ensure the alignment of strategies, standards and branding.

Key responsibilities include:

Communications Strategy

  • Lead, develop and implement integrated multi-channel global communications strategies and plans for actively growing CDP’s regional profile in the Asia Pacific region, in line with CDP’s Strategic Plan and central communications strategy;
  • Communicate and champion CDP’s brand and strategic positioning to key stakeholders in the region via CDP’s digital (including social media) and offline channels, ensuring that external communications meet the needs of local target audiences;
  • Build relationships and manage communications and global coordination with CDP offices and external partners.

Media Outreach:

  • Develop, manage and implement a regional plan to maximize CDP’s media coverage through compelling news stories, thought leadership and proactive media outreach, working closely with the central communications team;
  • Cultivate a network of journalists and editors in major media outlets in the region (broadcast, print, web and social media) to ensure widespread coverage of CDP’s mission and expertise in environmental disclosure;
  • Draft press releases, media advisories, and other communications materials for CDP Hong Kong as required;
  • Identify and act upon media opportunities to maximize regional coverage of CDP.

Content Development and Event Management:

  • Advise and assist CDP Hong Kong staff with the production of regional reports, workshops, webinars, and event management and provide marketing communications guidance where relevant;
  • Develop creative content for the Asia Pacific region in line with CDP’s central content strategy and plan, for CDP reports, media articles, blogs, social media, marketing collateral, etc, working closely with the global content team;
  • Support the Director of CDP Hong Kong on ad hoc projects and carry out any other work that supports CDP Hong Kong’s operations and international presence, as required.

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in communications, PR or journalism;
  • An understanding of and desire to work proactively to promote corporate sustainability;
  • Strong analytical mind with the ability to turn complex information into compelling stories and content;
  • Extensive experience in promoting content on a wide range of digital and traditional platforms;
  • Strong copy-writing and editing skills;
  • Solid and demonstrable experience and interest in social media;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of local and regional media, including business, trade and environment media;
  • Lots of creative ideas for impactful communications in a complex and competitive global media landscape;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and nurture relationships both internally and externally, including complex multi-stakeholder relationships;
  • Ability to work effectively in a small team and remotely with colleagues in CDP’s global offices;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in Cantonese/Mandarin and/or a Southeast Asian language is an advantage.

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Hong Kong office. The role is for an initial fixed term contract to 30 April 2021, with the potential for extension to 30 April 2022 subject to continued funding.
