Job Purpose and Background

Are you passionate about driving corporate ambition and action in order to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate change and reach a net-zero economy?

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team in Hong Kong. This position is an exciting opportunity to engage with stakeholders, gather insights on challenges to setting net zero targets, identify support areas to enable target setting, and develop a long-term strategy with interim goals to assist net zero ambitions and implementation for corporate and financial institutions in the Greater China region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a scoping study that ascertains the current capabilities of corporates to set net zero targets, assess challenges faced on target setting and implementation, identify key stakeholders and support mechanisms required to enable target setting and establish the blueprint for a net zero incubator.
  • Stakeholder mapping of key enablers for a net zero system in the Greater China region
  • Engage with policymakers, not-for-profits, corporates and financial institutions on net zero target setting and implementation
  • Outline recommendations on establishing a net zero support system and funding model

Essential skills and experience:

  • Minimum 6 years’ of work experience
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of subject matters such as climate change, low carbon transition, and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
  • Strong experience of engaging with corporates and financial institutions in the Greater China region
  • An ability to work independently and lead projects with minimal supervision
  • An ability to synthesize findings and deliver results in ambiguous, changing and fast-paced environments
  • Excellent content writing, communication and facilitation skills, with demonstrable experience in being able to influence behaviour and thinking
  • Proven track record in ensuring collaboration across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Presentation and marketing skills with a demonstrable pride in delivering high quality products and an eye for detail
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to seize strategic opportunities and convert these into strategies that colleagues can buy-into and execute

Desirable characteristics and skills:

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin

Salary and benefits: HKD 700,000 per annum. Benefits include annual discretionary bonus, 24 days holidays+ public holidays, and the opportunity to work flexibly.

This is a one-year, full-time role for a contract based in CDP’s Hong Kong office with possibilities of extension. Applicants must be eligible to work legally in Hong Kong.
