The climate crisis is affecting states and regions around the world at an unprecedented scale and pace. In 2020, CDP’s data revealed 780+ environmental and socio-economic impacts of climate change and a further 240+ impacts related to water security within just 108 states and regions. These range from more intense rainfall events and flash flooding to hotter summers and more frequent droughts. State and regional governments are already taking action to combat these impacts by setting ambitious net-zero targets, creating plans to transition to renewable energy practices and developing adaptation plans, but, more urgent action is needed to ensure a more resilient, sustainable and prosperous world.
