This month, CDP launched a report on 2021 Climate Transition Plan Disclosure, which looks at whether companies are being transparent in their transitions to a low-carbon future. A transition plan is a time-bound action plan that clearly outlines how an organisation will pivot i`ts existing assets, operations, and entire business model towards a trajectory that aligns with the latest and most ambitious climate science recommendations. Findings show that whilst one third of companies disclosing to CDP reported developing a low-carbon transition plan, less than 1% reported on all 24 key indicators of a climate transition plan, as identified by CDP. Additionally, while almost all organisations disclosed emissions reduction targets, less than 35% are credible or validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Clearly, more work is needed from companies in order to demonstrate to their stakeholders that their business model will remain relevant in a net-zero economy. Our accredited solutions providers offer a range of services and sector expertise to support your efforts to align with a 1.5-degree pathway and to keep your organisation in line or ahead of relevant policy goals.
