In addition, CDP is requesting water information from 341 companies of the S&P 500 Index that are either water intensive in their own operations or exposed to water risk through their supply chain.

 CDP US Spring Workshop 2014

CDP held the CDP US Spring Workshop 2014 on March 17 at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), hosted graciously by NYSE Euronext, in New York, NY.

The workshop explored strategic pathways to close the loop on sustainable business practices both within and beyond corporate boundaries, all while creating shareholder value. It offered a valuable platform for sharing best practices and collaborative efforts in:
  • Investing in profitable emissions reduction initiatives;
  • Integrating sustainability with core financial performance by speaking the language of the CFO;
  • Proactively informing investors on how sustainability is creating business value; and

Thursday, February 6

CDP provided introductory details on the climate change, water and forests questionnaires, including key dates and resources for first time responders. One of CDP’s investor signatories, Walden Asset Management, spoke on the benefits of responding to CDP. Two peer companies also shared insights: REIT HCP, Inc. spoke about their journey in the disclosure process since their first CDP response in 2012, and food distributor Sysco Corporation spoke on their experience as a first time responder in 2013.

 Kick Off to 2014 CDP Disclosure: Experienced Responder Webinar

Wednesday, January 29

CDP introduced the new structure in the North American office and laid out this year’s timeline and resources for climate change, water and forests disclosures. One of CDP’s investor signatories, CalPERS, spoke on their use of CDP data. We also heard from life science and technology company Sigma-Aldrich Corporation on how CDP has been leveraged to engage with senior management and bolster their sustainability practices; and from global security company Northrop Grumman Corporation on their management of the CDP disclosure request, and resulting benefits with stakeholders.

Tom joined CDP in 2007 to work on the Supply Chain program. He went on to found both CDP Public Procurement and CDP Cities, eventually serving as Director of Innovation on projects with transformational potential for mission and revenue. Prior to CDP Tom worked on climate change strategy at Honda Formula 1 and Dyson. He has also worked for the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development in their technology track. Tom holds a BSc (Hons) in Environment and Economics from the University of Bath and an MSc in Philosophy of Science.
