Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index 2009

 2009 CDLI methodology

CDLI scores were calculated according to a standardized methodology developed in conjunction with Pricewaterhouse Coopers. The methodology measured whether and how well, a company responded to each question. A company was awarded points if it reports its greenhouse gas emissions, but the actual amount of emissions does not affect its score. This principle continues in the disclosure scoring element of the CDP 2010 rating methodology.

Top scoring companies in the 2009 CDLI

CDP recognized companies with high-quality disclosure as top scoring companies in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI). In order to be included in this group, a company had to satisfy the following criteria:

  • It had to be among the highest scoring companies responding to the CDP questionnaire
  • Its disclosure to CDP had to be  publicly available on this website

The 2009 top scoring companies are listed below, according to the following geographic market indices:

Note: a company may appear in both its home-country index and the Global index. 2008 Top scoring companies can be found here.
