The next ten years will be critical in averting the climate crisis that our world faces. All the scientific models point to this conclusion. We must change the rules of the game within the capital markets to harness the profit motive as a force for good.

 How we are funded

CDP has a diverse funding base. We receive funding from companies, governments and philanthropic sources.

How we are funded

How we make a difference

CDP is an international, not-for-profit organization providing the only global system for companies and cities to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information. We work with market forces, including 767 institutional investors with assets of US$92 trillion, to motivate companies to disclose their impacts on the environment and natural resources and take action to reduce them. CDP now holds the largest collection globally of primary climate change, water and forest risk commodities information and puts these insights at the heart of strategic business, investment and policy decisions.

The Carbon Disclosure Project is a registered UK charity (no: 1122330) and holds 501(c)(3) status in the USA.

 Our vision and needs

Our vision is to prevent dangerous climate change, protect our natural resources and create long-term prosperity through the efficient allocation of capital.

To achieve this vision, we need to rapidly accelerate the measurement and disclosure of environmental risk to influence decision making which protects people and the planet.

Over the next three years, we aim to achieve:

  • 8,000 companies measuring, managing, disclosing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the CDP process.
  • 2000 companies providing audited statements of investment in ghg emissions reductions technology using shareholder authority to demand investments with a positive return.
  • 2,500 of the world’s largest companies in water intensive sectors measuring, managing and reducing water use through the CDP process.
  • 300 of the largest cities in the world reporting their greenhouse gas emissions through the CDP process.

To achieve these goals, CDP needs the support of individuals and organizations who share our aims and concerns.
